Welcome to The Arts Society North West Area.
There are 21 societies that make up the North West Area. All of our Societies offer a warm welcome to new members together with excellent programmes of lectures, study days and other activities including the opportunity to take part in a wide range of arts and heritage based volunteer projects. Please visit the Societies section for more details.
The Area brings together representatives of all the Societies in our Area. In this way Societies can benefit from the experiences of other Societies, raise any concerns and be kept up to date with current national policies. The Area offers support to the Societies through Area meetings, education events and training for new and potential committee members. The Area also encourages and promotes Heritage Volunteers, Church Recording, Young Arts activities and Trails of Discovery.
Hazel Jabobs North West Area Chair biography .
Born Newcastle on Tyne, some time ago. A proud Geordie.
My professional life was teaching English to “A” level. I was introduced to The Arts Society, then NADFAS, 30 years ago by a friend who was an adviser to Patricia Fay when she set up the first society. His enthusiasm is still with me.
I joined Cumbria DFAS when I moved here shortly after and following several different committee positions, including Chair, I am now delighted to be their President. I have been on the Area Committee for several years firstly as Area Trainer and now as Chair.
